Common issue with the z32 TT and NA is the leaky J hose. There weren't a lot of write ups or videos online on how to get to it so here's a better visual of the clearance you'll need to get to it. The alternator belt on a 1993 Nissan 300ZX will typically squeal if it has excessive wear or it has become lose. This provides a good opportunity to replace the belt before it complete fails. Jul 7, 2010 - Easy way to install/remove power steering belt Removing and installing the power steering belt has to be one of the most maddening jobs on. One of the common modifications owners of 1984-1989 Nissan 300ZXs do is install a 1986-1994 Nissan Maxima alternator. The stock 70 amp 300ZX alternator works well if you keep everything stock. But adding accessories like car stereo amplifiers or electric cooling fans puts strain on the stock 300ZX alternator and could lead to premature failure. Installing a 90 amp Maxima alternator provides more power to electrical accessories and provides longer alternator life. A few things to consider before doing this modification. The 1987-1989 300ZX turbo and non-turbo cars and 1984-1986 turbo cars are the easiest to convert to a Maxima alternator. Both alternators have the same four groove pulleys and use the same style of micro v-belts. The 1984-1986 300ZX non-turbo cars have the single groove v-belt, so either the four groove pulley on the Maxima alternator has to be changed to the one groove pulley, or all the one-groove pulleys on the 84 to 86 non-turbo cars need to be changed to the four-groove pulley setup. The Maxima alternator is physically larger, but the pulley diameter is smaller (2 3/4 inches) compared to the 300ZX alternator (3 1/8 inches). The two-wire plug, 12 volt battery supply and ground wire mount are in different locations, but there's no modifications to the car's wiring. Alternator mounting locations are the same. Due to the larger size of the Maxima alternator, it's necessary to grind off part of the alternator adjusting bracket to allow clearance. Installing Power Steering PumpGrind off the part marked with white paint. The modified bracket, cleaned and painted. Loosen the front 12 mm adjusting bolt under the power steering pump. Unplug the electrical power steering connector to allow the power steering pump enough movement to remove the belt. Remove the air conditioning belt Loosen the 12 mm top bolt of the air conditioner adjuster pulley (center) to give enough room to remove the belt. Remove the alternator belt Loosen the 12 mm lower alternator bolt. Loosen the 12 mm adjusting nut enough to remove the alternator belt. At the rear of the alternator, remove the 12 mm bolt securing the alternator to the mounting bracket. How To Install Power Steering Belt 300zx Turbo KitIt was interesting reading all this info. I have recently been given a 95 sentra with the 1.6L engine. Changing both the drive belts was made a chore by not having a clue as to where in the dark recess under the hood the P/S tensioner was located. After watching a video that did not show it but the oral summary mentioned it, the tensioner was found. This was a black adjuster located in a completely dark area. The change is now simple and completed. Gm Power Steering Pulley InstallIt is located near the P/S pump and reached from underneath.
